Dr. Terry L. Babor of Marengo is committed to bringing smiles to the faces of the children in his community. Dr. Babor has earned the Iowa Smiles Award given by Delta Dental of Iowa for giving his time to “Kids Day America” held in Iowa County to help in the identification of children through teeth charting and fingerprinting. Additionally, Dr. Babor and his hygentist, Jenny Rupp, participated in Career Day at Belle Plaine schools where they spent the day talking about careers in dentistry.

Brenda Slight of Boone is a deserved recipient of the Iowa Smiles Award from Delta Dental of Iowa for her commitment to the oral health in her community. She has been a caring employee at Boone Dental for nearly 20 years and takes an elderly neighbor to dentist appointments.

Davenport dentist Dr. Alex Brandtner brings smiles to the faces of the underprivileged children in his community. Dr. Brandtner has earned the Iowa Smiles Award given by Delta Dental of Iowa for his continuous reliability and compassion.

Dr. Kathy Elsner is recognized for starting the free dental clinic at the Des Moines House of Mercy. Dr. Kristopher Kelly has been instrumental in providing quality dental care to Iowans with limited resources or no insurance at the Free Dental Clinic at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa. This Nora Springs dentist has helped more than 1,500 patients and is recognized with the Iowa Smiles Award given by Delta Dental of Iowa.

Dr. Matthew Cannon of Bettendorf has been presented with an Iowa Smiles Award by Delta Dental of Iowa for his contributions to the community of Bettendorf. As a pediatric dentist, he volunteers as a costumed “Captain Cavity Fighter” to teach schoolchildren the importance of proper dental health care and puts all patients, young and old, at ease in the dental chair.

Center Point dentist Dr. Philip Andersen is a deserved recipient of the Iowa Smiles Award presented by Delta Dental of Iowa for being a volunteer at the free dental clinic in Cedar Rapids and as a board member of the local historical society. As further service to his community, when a new office building was constructed a few years ago, Dr. Andersen included space for meetings and school-related groups that he makes available free of charge.
